Constitutional Amendments

At the 2014 Annual General Meeting, the club will be considering a number of amendments to the AUVC Constitution. The current constitution can be found here, and the proposed constitution can be found here.

We encourage all club members to take a look at the proposed amendments prior to the AGM. If you have a question, please feel free to contact us and ask!

A summary of the changes:

  • There is now a concept of 'Named Committee Positions'. These are non-executive positions in the Club Committee with titles and position descriptions determined by the Club Committee prior to the AGM. (For a list of the proposed positions, see here.)

  • There are now four Executive Officers - President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

  • Nominations for Executive Officer positions must be communicated in writing to the Club President no later than 24 hours prior to the AGM.

  • There is now a specified 14-day handover period between when the new Club Committee is elected at the AGM, and when they formally assume their roles. This allows for a smoother transition between committees, and provides time for tasks such as changing signatories on the Club's accounts.

  • There is now a clear distinction between different AUVC membership types: 'Playing Member', 'Social Member', and 'Life Member'.

  • The President and Treasurer are no longer required to be students of the University of Adelaide, however at least two members of the Club Committee must be students of the University as of their election. This is in line with other AU sporting clubs.

  • The constitution now allows for the Club Committee to co-opt up to four additional members for specific projects, or to otherwise meet the goals of the club.

  • Proxy-voting is now permitted at General Meetings. Proxy votes must be communicated to the chair of the meeting in writing no later than 24 hours prior to the start of the meeting.

  • Changes have been made to Section 4.5.1 (removal of office bearers) to make it clearer that a two-thirds majority of the full Club Committee is required.

  • Several sections have had minor amendments in order to meet current Club and AU Sport practices.
