AUVC is entering SA State League!

The worst-kept secret in the club can finally be shouted from the rooftops: the AUVC will be entering SA State League in 2014.

Since its establishment in 1971, the primary goal of the Adelaide University Volleyball Club has been the promotion of volleyball to AU students and the wider community. For the last 43 years, this has focused on social trainings and inter-university competitions such as the Australian University Games.

In November of last year, the AUVC committee voted to take the next step, and approved a proposal for entry into the SA State League - the premier volleyball competition in South Australia. We can now announce that this proposal has been accepted, and we have received Provisional State League Club status from Volleyball SA.

We'll be nominating mens and womens teams in the 2014 season, and preseason has begun. If you're interested in playing for us, see here for training times. (We request that you contact us beforehand - don't just turn up on the night).

This is a big change for our club, but a good one. We can now provide a pathway for players who want more from the sport than our social trainings can provide, and better development opportunities for our coaches.

Rest assured that we won't be changing anything about the social side of the club. Social trainings will continue as they always have, and will still cater to all skill levels - beginner through to advanced.

It was a lot of work to get to this point. Thanks to everyone who helped out, we couldn't have done it without you.
