League Reserve Men
Mt Lofty def AUVC 3-1
Round 2 was a challenge for the AUVC Reserve Men facing the might of Mt Lofty. The match didn’t start well for AUVC with poor spiking, serving and blocking leading to a loss of the first 2 sets. We lifted our performance for the remainder of the match, taking the third and narrowly losing the fourth. This match has served as a reality check and many of the lessons learnt will be taken into the upcoming game again Norwood – the 2015 premiers.
Honourable mentions go to Jade Walsh for consistently winning points in the front court and to Waley Chan for an outstanding performance as a defensive sub.
MVP for Round 2 goes to Brennan Howie for taking control of our serve reception and defence against a very aggressive opposition.
League Reserve Women
Mt Lofty def AUVC 3-0
In the second match of the season Adelaide Uni Reserve Women matchup vs last year's premiership winners Mt Lofty.
The game started slow but we worked our way in and showed that we were competitive in the second set with final score 25-21. Ultimately we were outclassed on serve and serve reception and lost 3 sets to 0.
Honourable mentions go to Eliza Bartel and Josie Campbell for Intelligent and effective offense.
MVP goes to Rebecca Larizza for consistent performance throughout the game, positive mental attitude and a number of impressive blocks, spikes and serves.
Division 1 Men
AUVC def Mt Lofty 3-2
Another week, another thrilling five set win for the Division 1 Men. This week we matched up against a strong Mt Lofty team. After a shaky start we were able to secure the first set and third sets in very tight and hard fought sets. After a weaker fourth set, the guys where able to rally together and dominate the Fifth set taking the game in convincing fashion.
Honourable mentions to Mani Ganiger, Ming Tan and Max Davis how came up big and played at extremely high level in close points in the match
This weeks MVP goes to Tom Mansfield, who dominated the middle right from the start of the game and led the team from the net, excellent game from Tom and the guys!
Divison 1 Women
Mt Lofty def AUVC 3-2
The AUVC Division Women had a tough round 2 matchup against last years premiers, Mount Lofty. It was a hard fought, back and forth 5 set loss with AUVC winning the 1st and 3rd sets. A highlight of the match was the AUVC Div Women never bowing to the pressure that Mount Lofty brought and fighting to the end.
Honourable mention goes to Eliza Bartel for another strong all around game, providing strong passing and hitting when needed.
MVP goes to Charlotte Vince who was excellent offensively both distributing the ball as the back row setter and getting kills as a hitter in the front row.
Division 2 Men (Round 1)
AUVC def Adelaide Spikers 3-0
A good start to the season having beaten the Adelaide Spikers. The first set was a comfortable win. Which led to the second and third set being even stronger than the last, having the third set score being 25 – 7.
The team’s strongest are of play was definitely serving. Very minimal service errors, which allowed momentum to flow in the favour of AUVC.
Honourable mentions go to Brodie Jackson for his aggressive net presence as a middle and to Olly Williams for his attacking presence.
MVP for round 1 goes to Michael Ormerod for serving 14 serves in a row, most of which being aces.
