SA State League Match Reports - Round 1

Reserves Men

AUVC defeated USC Lion 3-0

A great start to the season by the AUVC Reserve Men! The team faced the 2015 third placed USC Lion. The match started well with a comfortable first set win. The following 2 sets were less comfortable, but still sufficient to bring home a straight set victory.

Our defense and serve reception were solid throughout the match leading to a variety of options in offence including a high number of isolation plays from 2 and 4.

Honorable mentions go to Oliver Pyke for his aggressive and effective net presence and to Michael Murphy for executing a winning offence.

MVP for round 1 goes to Ryan Muldrew for continuing his preseason form in an excellent all round performance.

We are top of the ladder and not going anywhere!

Division 1 Men

AUVC defeated USC Lion 3-2

Adelaide Uni div 1 mens matched up with USC Lion on their first match of the season. After a very shaky start, we where able to lift the intensity of the match in the next five sets.

We played very well in the remaining sets however dropped one set we should have won.
Luckily out intensity and attacking ability eventually got us over the line in the 5th set in a very heart wrenching final few points.

Honourable mentions to Max Davis and Mani Ganiger for their defence and high intensity.

Our round one MVP goes to Andy Wong for playing the whole match at a high level and being able to finish in clutch moments late in the game.

Division 1 Women

AUVC defeated USC Lion 3-1

A strong start to the season for the AUVC Division Women, beating the USC Lions in 4 sets. The match started with two comfortable set wins. The third set was hard fought with some strong serving from the USC Lions allowing them to edge out the set win. The fourth set was strongly contested throughout, but strong serving from the AUVC Div Women won the set and match.

Throughout the match our serve was particularly strong, with excellent placement and pace, creating a large number of points and keeping the Lions on the defensive.
Honourable mention goes to Kam Bhowany for her strong overall play.

MVP goes to Eliza Bartel, who along with excellent play throughout the match, provided exceptional serving at the end of the fourth set to spark the win.
