SA State League Match Reports - Round 13

League Reserve Men

AUVC def Northern Knights 3-0

Another solid win by the AUVC Reserve Men. This match was ours from the start taking the first 2 sets easily before the Knights stepped up their game against our lack of enthusiasm. Ultimately, we came away with a straight set victory which has secured our position in the finals!

Honourable mentions go to George Sainsbury and Dan Vincent for excellent domination at the net.

MVP for round 13 goes to Edward Pietsch for playing a consistently clinical style of volleyball.

League Reserve Women

AUVC def Northern Knights 3-0

This week the Reserve Women took on The Northern Knights.  With the aim of increasing the pace of their offence the girls made some errors in the first set, which coupled with some poor communication between defenders led to a close first set.

Following a slow start the girls picked up their serving pressure, and greater consistency from the setters allowing the hitters greater options in the following two sets, with our girls finishing the game strongly and winning in 3.

Honorable mentions to Charlotte Vince for effectively coordinating the offence with a strong setting performance, and to Harriet Berman, for a dominating offensive performance later in the game.

MVP goes to Charléne Bowering for a strong blocking game, cutting the opposition's middles out of the game, and for consistently winning points in offence.

Division 1 Men

AUVC def Northern Knights 3-0

A solid and clinical game from the Div 1 men this week. Knights showed signs of trying to dispell the clinical style volleyball but ultimately our service pressure and strong offence through the middle and outside were too good on the day.

Honorable mentions to Mani Ganiger for his unrelenting offence and Nick Powell set brilliantly in the 3rd set.

MVP this week goes to Daniel Emery for his pressure in attack and defence on court.

Division 1 Women

AUVC def Northern Knights 3-2

This week AUVC Division 1 Women took on the Knights. There was a continuation of us committing to many attacking errors that led to the Knights taking the first 2 sets. The girls were able to elevate their game, and bring down the attack errors to win the final 3 sets for a 5 set victory.

The win this week means the AUVC Division 1 Women have locked a spot in the finals!

Honorable mention goes to Kam Bhowany and Kate Woodbridge. After the first 2 sets they both had their best hitting games of the year.

MVP goes to Eliza Bartel for incredible serving throughout the match. She was able consistently to pick apart their serve receive for a number of big service runs.
