LEAGUE RESERVE WOMEN

MT LOFTY DEF. AUVC (3-2)

This week Adelaide Uni reserve women were in a a rematch against Mount Lofty. We won against lofty in our first meeting and so far this season it has been Lofty's only loss. We expected them to come out swinging and hungry for a win.

The first set was a back and forth affair, with Lofty getting the early lead but we were able to claw it back and brought it down to the wire, losing 26-24.

Second set we used multiple strong service runs to keep Lofty on their back heel and win comfortably 25-16

Third set Lofty again took an early lead that we had to fight back from. Again we made a great set of it, using a strong service game again to get back into it, but we fell just short again losing 25-23.

Fourth set was another close one, but this time we didn't give up an early lead and was able to take and maintain the lead by playing an excellent side-out game to finish out the set 25-22.

Fifth set the energy was high and we played well, but Lofty ended up taking it 15-11.

We may have lost this five setter but all the girls played great. We had the most kill blocks of any game this season, and points wise we came out ahead 108-104 despite the loss. Honourable mention goes to Lauren Crago for again distributing the ball extremely well and providing us with multiple service runs with her cannon of a serve, even having the other coach take a timeout before her first serve after we sided out. MVP goes to Rebecca Larizza who was our go to attacker, and putting out an excellent all around game with strong service, attack, block and defence.

LEAGUE RESERVE MEN

MT LOFTY DEF. AUVC (3-0)

This week the AUVC reserve men took on Mt lofty. After a very slow start, the guys picked up with intensity and fought very hard. Unfortunately Mt lofty proved to be too strong in the end winning the game 3-0.

This week came with its challenges and new line ups but guys responded well and really pushed one of the top sides all game.  This week has a joint MVP to Tom Mansfield for an incredible blocking presence and to Oscar Harper who had an unbelievable game through the middle not making a single offensive error! All Kills!

DIVISION ONE WOMEN

MT LOFTY DEF. AUVC (3-0)

The girls came up against the top of the table Mt Lofty. A very close few sets saw the girls play some of their best defensive game of the season.  Lots of dives and cover and all around team play really took every set to lofty. Unfortunately Mt lofty came good in the last few points of each set after we lead in every set for most of the game.

The girls should all be really proud of their efforts, as this is the best team game of the season!

MVP this week goes to Shannon who had an amazing game in the back court diving and getting a lot of balls up and keeping the play alive.

Honourable mentions this week go to Simone for a great serve receive game and Amelia for amazing blocking form!

DIVISION ONE MEN

MT LOFTY DEF. AUVC (3-0)

The Div 1 men played some solid sets against a strong Lofty side. It was clear lofty had an upper hand when it came to offence and the first set we went down quite convincingly. However, AUVC managed to stay level with Lofty in the second set due to the powerful outside hitting of Matt Rayner, but we were unable to take the set. The third set saw a similar outcome to the second set, held a small lead at the start but lofty came back strong to finish it off. It was good to see the Div 1 men getting around each other, they always knew they had a chance to win the game and they never gave up. MVP goes to Matt Rayner for his outstanding outside kills and honourable mentions to Alexei for his consistent setting and outside hitting.
